Glion is well known for perfecting leadership talent and preparing students to become leaders in the hospitality industry. At Glion, students are given many opportunities to test and develop their leadership skills by taking responsibility inside and outside the classroom.
All three campuses offer a variety of team sports and activities such as rugby, football and volleyball as well as clubs for individual sports such as golf, running and tennis. Many of these are led and run by students who are responsible for arranging practices and competitions.
Every class in Glion elects an Academic Class Representative who is responsible for bringing the voice of the class to the academic leadership and faculty of the institution. All students have the possibility to run for this position every semester.
For non-academic concerns, students turn to a selected group of students referred to as Campus Life Leaders (CLL). The role of CLL is only assigned to a limited number of applicants each semester and has a wide range of responsibilities, from fire safety and security issues, to organizing parties and other events.
Students interested in marketing are also given the opportunity to apply to be a Glion Ambassador for our institution. This means that you are the point of contact on campus for visiting students, professionals and journalists, as well as being involved in various marketing initiatives such as merchandise design and social media marketing.

Through the SGA, students are empowered and encouraged to drive their own initiatives to improve student life, such as increased opportunities for extra work, design of business cards, and interaction with other universities.
This semester the SGA president, Linus Fredberg, was sent to represent the institution and student government on our new London campus and at a conference in Berlin. The duties of the SGA also include creating and maintaining relationships with outside companies, such as sponsors and vendors.
In summary, the opportunities to grow as a leader during your time in Glion are really incredible and this is also something that employers are looking for. The lessons you learn in these roles may very well be just as useful as those you learn in the classroom.
